Zach Kafoglis joined the Scroggins Law Group in September 2019. He has over 30 years of experience, and has established a reputation of honesty and integrity. He has worked with some of the most preeminent family law firms in the country and established himself as a leading family lawyer
Zach was born in Abilene, Texas. At an early age, he moved to Bowling Green, Kentucky, where he completed his education, started his law practice, and raised his three children. He graduated from the University of Kentucky with a double major in History and Economics, and he was admitted to the Phi Alpha Theta National History Honor Society.
After practicing law for 24 years, Zach had the opportunity to move his practice to Chicago, Illinois. There he had the privilege of successfully representing high net worth clients with complex family law matters against some of the best family lawyers in the country through both contested litigation and mediation or Collaborative Law. He is excited to be back home in Texas and to bring this vast experience with him.
Zach represents clients in all areas of family law including divorce, property division, custody/possession, child support, paternity, and the preparation of prenuptial and postnuptial agreements. Zach represents clients in the most complex family law disputes through litigation and through Collaborative Law and Mediation if litigation is not in the best interest of the client.
Zach began his career in Family Law litigation and in the demanding and litigious areas of Personal Injury Law, Criminal Defense, and Probate and Estate Law. He successfully litigated
hundreds of cases through jury and bench trials, but he also was instrumental in helping clients negotiate settlements. He attributes his trial and negotiation success to hard work, ethics and his ability to properly analyze the legal issues involved.
Zach has held professional leadership positions throughout his career. He is also known for his community involvement and has served as the Chairman of his local United Way, Chairman of his Chamber of Commerce leadership training program, and Chairman of his church board.
Zach made an effort to understand all the details of my case. He has a high level of integrity and empathy which is not common in the field. He is very knowledgeable and explains the process in a straightforward way instead of making it more confusing. He is good at building a solid strategy while being able to pivot if he’s thrown a curve ball. I was glad that it was him sitting next to me when my divorce was final.
Zach represented me in a difficult collaborative divorce in 2015. He consistently projected a calm, professional attitude and was very responsive to my communications with him. I appreciated his excellent mediation skills with a “high conflict” former spouse, as well as his active and empathic listening skills with me. His years of experience were evident as he led the collaborative team. I find him to be trustworthy and of high moral character. In the end, my divorce experience was actually empowering, and I have Zach to thank. The divorce was finalized in about 6 months, with only one court date.
I hired Zachary after firing my first lawyer 2 years after my then husband served me my papers. Zach was very patient, knowledgeable and honest. He is always available. He returns phone calls and emails as soon as possible. I wish I had him working on my case since the beginning. I believe I would have received a much lesser desirable and a very unfair judgment, had I not hired Zach to do my fighting for me towards the end of my process. Recently, a year after my divorce came to an end, I had a question. I sent an email to Zach. He replied to my email as well as called me. That shows great character. My children and I will always be grateful.
